Gayle Tanaka is a visual artist residing in New York City.  Tanaka has exhibited nationally, including the Yerba Buena Center for the Art and

the Jewish Museum in San Francisco, the Chicago Cultural Center, the Center for Photography and the Newhouse Center for Contemporary

Art in New York.  Her work has been featured in Camerawork, afterimage, Artweek and Zyzzyva.

 

Tanaka's work is photo-based and explores the intersections of time, culture and personal history.  Through the manipulations of memory and influence, Tanaka seeks to reveal some of what goes on behind the changing face of America.
